Kidtrition: Healthy Meals + Nutrition Education for Childcare Centers

Partnership With Equiti Foods

FEC has partnered with Equiti Foods, a trusted local food company with a certified commercial kitchen and deep experience providing healthy meals through statewide community health initiatives.

Equiti Foods will:

  • Prepare CACFP-compliant meals that are kid-tested and nutritionist-approved

  • Use locally sourced ingredients when possible

  • Provide frozen, heat-and-serve options that save staff time

FEC will:

  • Deliver nutrition education programming

  • Offer parent workshops on healthy eating and cooking

  • Provide child-friendly activities to help kids build lifelong healthy habits

Your Role: Help Us Shape Kidtrition

We’re seeking input from childcare providers, staff, and children to guide our recipes and education offerings. We’ll provide free food trays for taste testing, and your staff and kids can share feedback to help us improve.

Interested?

Want to participate in taste testing or learn more about Kidtrition? We’d love to hear from you.

Our Commitment to Children’s Health

The Food Equity Collaborative (FEC) is a nonprofit dedicated to improving community health through access to nutritious food, health education, and strengthening local food systems. With our Kidtrition initiative , we will partner with local childcare centers to combine healthy meals with fun, engaging nutrition education for kids and families.

Why We’re Here

Early childhood is a critical time for building lifelong habits. Research shows that kids who are introduced to healthy foods and nutrition education at a young age are more likely to carry those habits into adulthood—leading to better physical health, improved focus, and reduced risk of chronic disease.

Childcare providers have told us they want:

  • Healthier, convenient food options that meet CACFP requirements

  • Simple solutions that kids actually enjoy eating

  • Education to strengthen healthy habits both in the classroom and at home
