Our Story
The Food Equity Collaborative was created by UNC nutrition professor Dr. Alice Ammerman as a way to ensure everyone has access to healthy delicious food, to support the local food system, and to engage and educate the community with education around nutrition and healthy eating.
The FEC was created as a non-profit extension of Equiti Foods, the makers of Good Bowls. Together Food Equity Collaborative and Equiti Foods are a part of a dual entity social enterprise that is working to improve the health and lives in our community through food.

Our Mission
The Food Equity Collaborative works to create a more just and resilient food system by increasing access to nutritious, locally sourced meals, fostering community education on healthy eating, and strengthening partnerships that support local farmers and food producers. Through direct food access programs, educational initiatives, and collaborative efforts, we aim to empower individuals and communities to make informed food choices that promote health, sustainability, and equity.

Our Vision
We envision a future where everyone—regardless of income or location—has reliable access to nutritious, locally sourced food. By strengthening local food systems, fostering education, and building collaborative solutions, we strive for healthier individuals, empowered communities, and a more sustainable and equitable food future.
