Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program

The NC Seniors Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) is a summer-only program that provides vouchers in participating counties to eligible lower-income older adults to purchase fresh fruits, vegetables, honey, and fresh cut herbs at NC SFMNP-certified farmers' markets. Benefits come as physical coupons or vouchers.

Applications for 2026 are now closed. This page will be updated with the 2027 application link when it becomes available. More information can be found on the NC DHHS website.

  • To be eligible for Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition program (SFMNP), you have to meet these requirements:

  • The interest form will ask you for the following information:

    • First Name

    • Last Name

    • Email Address

    • 10-digit Phone Number

    • County You Live In

    If you live in a participating county, your contact information will be shared with the local agency that handles SFMNP applications, eligibility screening, and voucher distribution. They will contact you with information about the program.

    SFMNP vouchers are not guaranteed. Even if a person meets the eligibility requirements, there may not be enough funds for all eligible persons to receive SFMNP vouchers.

  • You will receive $50 dollars in the form of 10 paper coupons.

  • Benefits are dispersed in June and July and must be used by the end of September.

    1. What can I purchase with SFMNP?

      You can only purchase fruits and vegetables.

      You cannot purchase baked goods, crafts, cooked foods, eggs, plants, or other non-food items.
